Hey all! Thought I would share our farm and recovery center! We are called Badmash Peepal and we are a Stray Animal Recovery Center (primarily dogs, cows, and equines) and organic farm. We also have a "community for good" where people from all over the world can come to work on projects for a better world.

We built the community house in the traditional way around here (mud adobe bricks primarily, with stacked slate in the kitchen) and incorporated passive solar design. We don't need heat in the winter nor coolers in the summer!

The farm uses dung from our recovery cows and horses as fertilizer, compost for nutrients, diluted cow urine as pest repellent, and we mulch A LOT! We also just started our crop rotations as this is now our second full planting season The fodder for the animals is grown by us at our land not far from here.

I can't wait to start some terracing behind the bamboo and some hugulkulture! BTW, anyone know how to grow things below bamboo?

We have started harvesting seeds, which is almost unheard of around here these days. That is also a big learning process, but we are slowly working towards making our own landrace varieties. A lot of our seeds were donated by Baker Creek Seeds and Laughing Wolf Farm, so it has been a grand experiment to see what comes up here. Apparently this is the climate for beans, they are going crazy!

Hope you guys like our project! I will post updates on the farm. Hope to get some feedback too

Hello!

Thanks for your insights I have one questions -- at what frequency do you apply diluted cow urine to your vegetables?

Thanks!
