diseases affecting both actinidia kolomikta and ribes nigrum?

I planted quite a few species of perennials in a garden bed this spring, and the female hardy kiwis and a black currant both leafed out, then slowly wilted and died. They were bare root plants and the soil was always moist and the temperature never too hot. Any ideas of what could be the cause? on a positive note, european and american hazel, siberian pea shrub, male hardy kiwi, jostaberry, golden current, aronia, are all surviving.
