Jocelyn is working hard to get me on a regular podcast schedule.  Weekly.   Yesterday, she and fred sat me down and we recorded for about two and a half hours.  So, two podcasts worth.

At the end, I added a note to say that I think that creating podcasts and youtube videos were something I did when I had no debt.   But recent events (detailed in the podcast) led to debts.  Compounded with my affliction last winter ...  I feel I cannot do podcasts and youtube videos while I have this debt.  I must focus on clearing the debt.  My time is not my own.

Fred then pointed to my patreon stuff as a solution.  It is set up entirely for doing videos and podcasts.  I pointed out that I get something like $20 per artifact (I just now looked, it is currently $30).  So, putting my time there would not clear the debt.   And the incredibly low number is actually a bit embarrassing when compared to the many other patreon accounts that are getting thousands per artifact.  Fred countered that those people really worked the system and mention patreon with each artifact.

So, in the end, I said, that if the parteon thing can get up to $200 per artifact then I will change gears and return to doing that.

As is, if people pledge monies and I don't do anything then it costs nothing, since my patreon thing is set up to be "by the thing" and not "by the month."

So a new podcast has been recorded.   I think the file has been sent to adrien.  Adrien has been working looooong hours at his dayjob, plus he has a new baby at home, so I don't know how long it will be for the podcast to come out.

It's certainly the chicken or egg thing and certainly not residual.

Though, I'd bet with your next 5 podcasts and a few videos mentioning patreon and telling people how it works and how to get there, you could easily reach the $100 per artifact mark.
And for me... I much prefer the "for the thing". I think that's a great thing to mention.

Record it once and you can drop it in each episode. Better yet, If you have a videographer available, knock it out for video and audio at the same time.

I threw a quick patreon plug together.
Feel free to use it, or not, as you wish.
