I am not sure what the life expectancy of a hugel is, but sadly due to an expansion on my farm, I had to bury our oldest Hugel with a lot of soil. I think it was destroyed, but the interesting think to note was its age. I put it in place in 2009 and so for 8 years it has had the upmost vitality. I have a few others that are churning along nicely, but they are not 8 years old either.
Kind of a sad day as I was interested in seeing when it would start to decline in production.
