My homestead abuts a slough that the beavers had damned up making it about a long pond of about an acre.  This winter, with the glacial melt from the mountains combined with heavy rainfall, the damn was washed out and I ended up with a long, narrow slough again.  I am thinking about taking some of the exposed land and having a backhoe dig out enough to create a sizeable pond that my cabin could overlook.  My only concern is what if the beavers decide to re-create the damn?  Then all my work could potentially be ruined.  Any thoughts on this?

Thank you,

Paul M.
