We live in Arizona so it gets really hot, making having a garden a full-time job. I've been searching for a solar greenhouse with a hydroponics system, and I found one at darlinsplace.com which seems interesting. Has anyone here had success with a solar greenhouse?

I believe the correct term for a covered green house in Arizona is: "easy bake oven", and the hydroponic trays are called: "evaporative trays".
I have a pit greenhouse in NE AZ that I covered in plastic. Impressive to have 70° inside with snow on the ground but nothing survives the night.

Presently I'm using 80% shade cloth. The water for my pot-ponics trays comes from a covered pit and as long as the water is moving it never gets above 70° .
The idea is that the water will keep the plants cool in summer.

Along those lines I'm looking at keeping plants warm with water in winter.  Last January an open water pit was 40° while a covered pit (plywood with 4inches of soil over it) was 50°

I have decided that if I had to live off of what I grow it would be fat(er) Kevin in summer and skinny Kevin in winter. Though I have had lettuce and onion growing off of ice meltwater in winter. (Till the bunnies got them)

I only get to Arizona every six weeks so every trip is an adventure of what's broken now.
