Leyland Cypress wood good for outdoor use?

I have several huge 30+ year old Leyland Cypress trees that need to come down and was wondering if the wood  is worth keeping for anything other than furniture.

I am thinking about getting them made into 6inch poles for a lean to shed and didn't know if the wood would be rot resistant or strong enough for what I'm needing it for?

Anyone have any experience with this wood?

Durability is similar to macrocarpa (Monterey cypress) and that's not surprising, since it's a mac hybrid. I use macrocarpa for all sorts of outdoor projects and it holds up beautifully, weathering to an attractive silvery sheen. But it has its limits: prolonged contact with the ground will rot it pretty quickly.

Hi Cassie - I came across your post from 3 years ago and was wondering if you ever did anything with the Leyland Cypress. I am planning on building an artist’s studio and I have an opportunity to get some free LC and was thinking of using it for the siding.
