Behold my prime mover, a representative sample of
the loads it usually carries and outrigger wheels
for future iterations.
I used to use bungee cords to lash the 5-gallon buckets
and other loads but now I just use some cordage.
This was originally smaller but over the decasde
and a half, bits have worn out and were replaced.
Look carefully. Yes, that is a Foosball handle and
the wheels come from a wheelie bin. the bag contains
cut grass left out by neighbours.
Going by the lowtech article referenced above,
indeed the Chinese wheelbarrow is the way to go.
To this end I have salvaged suitcase wheels to
use as outrigger wheels. The one disadvantage for
me with the Chinese wheelbarrow is what to do when
you are too tired to balance the wheelbarrow. Yes,
there are stands but I prefer wheels so my answer
is not one or two or four wheels but 3 wheels.
Improvise.
Adapt.
Overcome.
If you understand your specific needs, you can tailor
something that works for you. I can't weld so I would
turn to wood or slotted angle iron. Nuts and bolts and
hose clips and wire clamps. Tools like the Clamptite
tend to waste a lot of wire . . . perhaps I could make
do with a blind riveter but that is another experiment.
