Fascinating. It is refreshing to hear a break from the "wooden ploughs, goats, and early charcoal industry destroyed everything" historical line. It is even more interesting, though not surprising, to hear that ancient racism fuelled that consensus.

So all we need is a line of solar and wind farms down the African West cost, according to this article, transitioning to dryland tree species, transitioning to ever-more-humid condition trees, and we can green the Sahara once again.
