Hi, my name is Jon. I live in a small town along the wild and scenic Oregon coast called Port Orford. There isn't even a stop-light in town, and yet it does have a proper 'artist frinedly' natural foods Co-op. I've been here one full cycle now and can attest to all four seasons... 'Slow living in slow cities with slow money' is my moto.
What I am wanting is someone sincerely interested in learning more about Permaculture, lving a natural and organic homesteading life and lifestyle, and perhaps  anOregon way of life for enjoying the great outdoors.
My situation is able to accommodate someone new on-board in a win-win 'work trade' on a month to month basis. My property is only .25 acres. However, it is mostly done with the major projects involved and in walking distance to the city park, library, grocery store, hardware store, public transportation (a bus system the goes up and down Hwy 101), and the Tseriadun State Park / beaches.
There is a detached studio/apt. off the car port set-up as a guest room, which is also clean and quiet with the exception of the washer and dryer in there.
I have no pets at this time. I may soon acquire a couple chickens for the coop I put in this summer. I do not smoke cigs, or drink alcohol, but sometimes use cannabis for medical reasons (I am a disabled veteran). I am 80% vegan about 100% of the time, lol, although always moving toward becoming more.  I sustainably source as much of my food as possible, while all is generally organic.
I am a sustainablility guy. Which means I try to incorporate 'sustainale principles' in my life and lifestyle as much as possible. Therefore, I advocate the same for others who might stay here for a time.  :-)

Hey there Dani, welcome back to Oregon.  :-)  I just relocated back here myself about a year ago now.  Have you ever visited the southern Oregon coast where the climate is mild? There seems to be a steady flow of van dwellers strolling up and down hwy101... My place is small, but comfy and cozy, in walking distance to the wild and scenic beaches. There is at least 7 major parks in the near vacinity not to mention forests and mountains. Its slow living for the most part, but I still like to travel too.

Hey Everyone, my name is Jon. I am 52 yrs old, tall, and got a small permaculture homestead on the southern Oregon coast I am looking to share everything with another intereested in this type of lifestyle. The town is Port Orford of only about 1000 people or so (off tourist season), but has a real Organic Food Co-op grocery store and no stop-lights at all in town. The hiking in the area is the best (surrounded by forest and wild and scenic ocean beaches and at least 7 state parks). People here are artist friendly in general. Cheers

Hey there Ron, You came are close to where I consider to be one of the best homesteading locales on the west coast. After moving back to the mainland from Big Island I researched and scouted many choice places to relocate to and build a new permaculture homestead. One of the places I found just after buying my current property on the southern Oregon coast in Port Orford is located north of Sac. in the Trinity Mountains. That is southwest of the I5 Redding on a country road that leads to Cecilville, CA. The road getting there is precarious and probably already closed for the winter. However, you could plan on a visit. in the spring to check it out. Salmon Creek Saloon will get you started and answer all your questions. From there you can venture toward Humbolt county as the real estate deals in my opinion hold great value in terms of permaculture and homesteading. Much of the nortorious crime has dispersed due to the legalliization of Cannabis and the small towns and rural areas and desiring/recruiting community minded people to help rebuild.
You might head up to the southern Oregon coast with particulr regard to Curry County which includes Brookings, Gold Beach, and Prot Orford.  The forrest hikes and wild and scenic sandy beaches are idealic and offer refuge and are a hedge against social ills associated with urban development.

In NW Montana where morel mushrooms are common to be found I ordered spores by mail and planted them at the border of my property noticing it as an ideal location. I wasn't there long enough but the spores weren't as expensive asa petrol to and from remote locations and it added to local food security at my location.

This is a great link for anyone currently interested in joined an estblished eco-village and has enough capital available to buy in...($310 K) I spent some time in the area SW. NM. and SE. AZ. and loved it! The high dessert is teemming with life especially within the migrational patterns and monsoon season. Plus the mountains are phantasmagoric.

My ideal eco-village would be a Community Land Trust on-paper because it is a non-profit organization and estblished as a Permaculture Eco-village in design of it's by-laws and mission.
Next, it would probably be using Tiny Homes exclusively bcuz it avoids zoning/building code stipulations by being on wheels and puts everyone one one the same page/common ground for ethically living a life and lifestyle on principle which could also be used within one's political ideology and reflected online.
Lastly, it would have the. pre-requisite of being Vegan exclusively to get your application approved by the board of directers which would be made up of 100% member residents of the C.L.T. Here, accountability reetains the agency for developing in autonomy.

Don't forget northern Mendicino County.
