Hey friends!

As the title says, my husband and I (and our cat) are looking to find some soul tribe down in El Salvador!

We live in a skoolie, so we are pretty self-sufficient on the home front. All we need is water, unless we get absolutely no sun for too long.

We spent 10+ years farming in NorCal, mostly growing what you’d imagine, but created our own fertilizer teas, natural pesticides, built out some hugelkultur beds, compost toilets, hay bail houses, and cared for/processed cows, goats, chickens and pigs. I also helped Ayana Young (of the For The Wild podcast and the 1 Million Redwoods project) develop her permaculture garden from scratch. After that we spent a year on the Big Island, HI on a micro dairy learning all about the draw-down method.

The past few years we’ve spent diving into different healing modalities- hubby offers Shiatsu and sound healing, and I facilitate Shamanic Breathwork. I’ve also been a surf instructor for 20+ years.

Our cat pulls her own weight and is a savage rodent hunter, not too interested birds thankfully.

So that’s us! We’d love to help with an existing project or help start a new one! We’re down for the dirty work and can also support with our other skills, if that applies.

So if you know of any intentional communities, eco villages, care taking opportunities… we’re open to ideas! Thank you!

Hello, it is nice to meet you. It seems that we share some commonalities beyond permaculture. !. I last homesteaded on the Big Island ('20-23'), and NW Montana ('16-20'), although I recently relocated to the mainland, landing in Idaho. However, I have been looking into the prospects of moving to Central America for years and have been there on several occasions, including Ecuador.  What is it about El Salvador that is a draw for you?
Regarding the real estate market, I like Nicaragua the most; however, I favor Belize because I do not speak Spanish and am eligible for their Qualified Retirement Program to maintain residency instead of renewing it every 3 months. I'd love to collaborate with other like-minded folks to homestead on some land down there (probably 6 months per year at first for me) to make life easier. Would you like to discuss the possibility further with me sometime? Let me know with your reply. In any case, all the best to you and your family. Peace and love -Jon

Hello everyone! Sorry for the late reply, I thought it would notify my email 😬. And hey Jon! We are drawn to El Salvador honestly first because of the waves. It’s been a dream spot of mine as a surfer, but I used to travel alone mostly and I’m a woman so it was always off the table. And it has everything we love, ocean, mountains, volcanoes, and mangoes! Haha. I’ve heard great things about the people too. We aren’t fluent in Spanish yet, but my family is from Cuba, so I understand a lot, and my husband took Spanish all through high school and still has conversational skills.

Would love to explore some options to collaborate! I will be honest though we don’t have much other than our skills but if you want to talk more my email is theshmev at gmail . com !
