I store dehydrated and dry things in glass jars, mason/canning or reused, with an oxygen absorber in each one. you can get a big batch if them and store Them in a mason jar- they last years, sealed, before use.

I have an elberta growing in the southern rocky mountains at 7500 feet. We have pretty severe changes in weather, and apricots only produce 1 or 2 years out of 5.  The peach produces every year like crazy!

Anne Miller wrote:Observation might be the key factor.  What happens to your swales when it rains?

We make mini swales after planting out fruit trees, not before.

I hope you will find the answer that you are looking for.

how do you build the swales? above/ below the trees? can you send a pic? and what is your climate/rainfall like?

thanks

here in the high desert we need beauty and shade as much ( or more than) beans. i grow scarlet runners on arched cattle panels. Let them dry on the vine and hand pick pods/crush into tubs.

on a windy day pour tub ontp tarp, gather tarp and pour back into tub, couple times in the breeze and done.

if i have to buy new seed for whatever reason, those are the ones we eat and we save our landraced beans for seed.

hope this helps!
