Me, I meditate.  Various forms,mainly mindfulness.  I'm learning about qigong and zhan zhuang.  Prayer is also good, though it can turn into a bitch session.  Like the man said "Me and God, we be mates."

I am grateful for this forum.  Reading Permies is a sure way to chill and realize that there are still good people out there.

Thank you, everyone for the warnings about frost!  I've retrieved the pot and filled the hole with worm castings.  The Pile is usually the repository for dead hanging plants.  I tried burying kitchen trash in there once, but the raccoons dug it up.  This is a hugel-stump that I use to see what I can grow, and what the deer will eat.  So far herbs do well.

Had to put a cage around the catnip pot because there is one deer that apparently eats all the stuff that dear don's eat.  Crape myrtle, iris...and catnip.  Go figure.

I tried one of these on The Pile this summer.  It was just an 8" pot with a cork in the bottom and a plastic plant tray over the top.  Rather a half-baked experiment, really.  The YouTube video that was my inspiration said the pots needed to be dug up before frost since frost activity would break them.    Has anyone had experience of this?

I noticed that both the new bee balm and the old peppermint headed right for the pot.  The lavender looked perkier too.  Even with the cover, I had to skim off the pill bugs a few times.

I like the idea of burying the pot hole side up and just pouring water in.  Can the open side of the pot be placed directly on the soil, or does it need to be sealed somehow?  If I can leave the pot buried year round, this experiment will be worth another try.

I don't use it much either, mainly for insomnia.  I find that a strain called Harlequin works well for me.  It is 5% THC and 9% CBD.  I'm afraid a little THC goes a long way with me.  The stronger strains make me useless for hours, so I avoid them.

Since this is a permaculture forum, I really do not care if the use of marijuana is right or wrong or the go-to joy of wayward people.  In my opinion marijuana is a useful plant that happens to be mostly legal where I live.

My tale is this:  After a boring series of medical adventures, I encountered the Colonoscopy from Hell to treat some mutant blood vessels left over from radiation treatment.  Talk about innards in an uproar, mine were.  All the medical people could offer were shrugs...or a $200 enema which the pharmacy didn't have in stock.

What solved my problem?  A few puffs of Grandaaddy Purple on the vape pen.  When I woke up the pain was gone, the gut dance had stopped, and I could eat without throwing it up.  Amazing.  Miracle.  And the misery didn't come back.

So  my question is, why not explore this plant further?  It is a genuine herb, edible from root to branch.  The psychedelic component demands respect, but so does the mayhem potential of an automobile.

Hopefully we can talk quietly about this subject.

M Ljin, thank you for the pie!  You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw that in my e-mail!  Now I'll put my money where my mouth is and start that thread in Cider Press and hope it stays civilized long enough to be useful.

Since I last posted, the husband has gone gung-ho with the solar.  Our front yard is full of panels and we have batteries in odd places.  But when the lights go out we have some electric light and we can run the refrigerator.  For toilet purposes we have the chamber pot which I acquired during some knee surgery, and a camping toilet for the solid stuff.  One of the batteries could run the well if necessary, but so far we haven't needed that.  We still have five gallon buckets of water sitting around for water, but it is nice to know we can run the well if necessary.

The answer seems easy enough: take discussions of marijuana to the Cider Press.  We can talk about it there, hopefully without a lot of drama.  Hopefully, I will see you all there.  Hopefully we can stick to plant-related topics and not worry about right/wrong, evil/righteous, whatever.

Joao, thank you so much!  I've downloaded the app and am fooling around, just to see how it all works.  Hopefully I can figure out the random placements, like "lavender beside the house" and "lavender in The Pile".

I think this will help me to just pay attention more.
