Thanks for those points! I agree with doing a little at a time is better than perfect. A few additional things I like to do: (1) use scrap towels for pee rags (not poo, too difficult to clean) that save toilet paper, (2) dilute liquid soaps, (3) build soil in the back and front yard using any organic matter I can find to compost, (4) go to estate sales and auctions for items I need, and (5) have a running list on my phone for things I need around the house to buy used.

I am staring at those hinged pet fences. And it occurred to me that those might work really well for a composting bin. Especially for winter storage of fall leaves. Any idea why this would not work?
I can easily see how to make a two or three spots composting station.
I'm looking at a zip tied bundle of six panels for $15. They are some sort of plastic, probably HDPE but I can't tell for certain.

I already have a pet fence that I have lining the driver's side of my driveway to help protect the edges of the car door from the rock wall. At the time I had not realized what it was I thought it might have been some kind of toddler fencing.

Unfortunately my experience with using plastic outside (when not meant for exterior use) is that UV breaks it down within a year and then the plastic breaks in annoying ways. So its a money waster and a time waster. I would spend your $15 on some more permanent metal wire fencing to make a cylindrical compost bin, or make a small pile without a barrier for free. One way you could potentially use the fence you already have out of the sun is some sort of drying rack tray.

Ah HA!! An apple for you!
Welcome to Permies, what a lovely first post!!

Thank you! I was very puzzled by the lack of any name on the back. Didn't even think about stickers....

Mine is the same size, I paid nowhere near 30.00 for it. It was 1.00 or under. I don't bother to ask prices at that store any more, they are always well below what I'm willing to pay, I gave up asking. When I can, I pay more than they are asking, to donate to them, they are a good cause. It's run by and benefits the local senior citizens center, the money goes to buy fun things for the place, the grants they get cover only the required items. They get some interesting donations. It's a fun shop.

:D

Great! Thanks! Looks like you got a good one.

Anyone able to find out about this? I'm striking out.

The color is bluer than it looks in  this pic, a deep dusty blue, not bright cobalt, but not gray like it looks here.
