Jay Angler wrote:What crazy ideas can we come up with, that might help stop metal roofs from becoming snare drums in rainstorms?

Well.. if "Crazy Ideas" are fair game, here... First thing that came to my mind (besides - of course - 'industrial-roof grade felt' was, well...Intentional Moss. (and, I see that it Might not be The stupidest idea on the internet, afterall..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhmifPCnxF0 Hmmm.. So.. "Doable", but.. 'Practical'? I dunno, but.. My thoughts would be:

- I see the 'Practicality' of this idea being 'Size Related'.. Ergo: If your place is a Smallish Cabin, and the Roof isn't Too monsterous, well.. Maybe this could work (it Certainly would be Gorgeous / Cool (literally, too..
but if you've got a 4000 sq ft 'McMansion', well.. Maybe not so much practical.

- I also (having Installed Roofing quite a few times back in the 'Kitchens & Baths days', including Rework, etc) always think of Serviceability, down the road...

ie: What if an 'Uninvited Tree-Branch Visit' during a bad storm necessitates a roof repair - Or someday just presents with your 'garden-variety roof-leak' - Methinks trying to suss-out a leak and/or do a repair on a Mossy-Roof - might just lead to ripping it all off.. Or, perhaps your Better Half spots / falls in love with those Awesome Fiber Optic Solar Skylights and they Just Have to Have them, Now.. etc, etc, etc..

Regardless, it Certainly would present a unique 'Safety-challenge' for the Roof-climber, so.. Just thinking ahead, here.

But.. I'm Also betting it would be about the Quietest and Prettiest Roof on the block - Maybe even the whole durn State.  Just a 'crazy' thought.

a) This Site is Wonderful - including all the occasional kerfufflery over life-minutia like "foul language"  - Really, a Very subjective issue, and - in the Context of the 'Big Picture of Life' - So Not Important getting all upset over (In my Opinion..) Quite entertaining.

Same with this whole kerfuff over 'real names vs pseudonyms' - Not really sure Why it's So Hard for some people to Not grasp the "My House - My Rules" concept (that is to say, Your House, Your Ru... aww, you get it..

As you astutely put it elsewhere - If Thoust Don't Liketh the manner in which Sir Wheaton and Staff are running The Castle - Please - feel Freeth to Go, thereforth - and D I Y.  (which is Not to be misinterpreted that I am covertly saying DIE, no - D I Y = "Do It Yourself" - which is just what I meant... Yep, Amen.

b) I have a suggestion for a 'Caption' for this Fine (Re)Work of Art:

Military-grade Gen 3 Thermal / NIR night vision goggles.

"Why" should be pretty self-explanatory. (to find out Who / What's eating my Garden, of course!

Greetings, once again, from your Friendly Neighbor here in AZ...

..and I hear you loud and clear on our Unmatched Sunsets - they Are a 'reward unto themselves'..

..Unforgettable - just like the Stars out here..

'PM' incoming - Gonna give this one last shot - to Adequately communicate the skill-sets I both Possess and Master - that You are communicating are Needed, therein.

...and, if nothing else - Hope to at least bring you a Smile.

Cheers, Ms T

My .02:

1) Long Live Robin Williams and George Carlin's performances - Such a bummer they're no longer with us - Geniuses.

2) This is one of my Personal Fav 'iterations' - Guy walks up to me on a job site, and hands me one of these (didn't have the glass dram-vial - just the laser-cut wooden word..)

..and as I am carefully gripping it between my fingers 'processing' what's been handed to me, just about to query: "Umm, whaaa..."  ...With flawless 'comedic timing', he looks straight at me and quips: "Now ya can never say I don't Give One!"

Yah, I LOL'd..

Don’t waste your time going in circles about what went wrong. It is clear that this was not the person who was meant to be there, and that they left to make space for the right one.

The other day I saw a phrase in Spanish: “Remember, they don’t leave you for someone better, they leave you for something easier.” That says enough. Let’s give that the value it deserves: zero.

Keep your mind open. Think positively. Let yourself feel excited again. Cry and scream when you need to. But then get back up and grow, the way branches grow stronger after pruning.

Hermano, I am Framing This. Spot On.

The way I would put that 'dicho' (and the 'sense' of it's message) in Spanish would be like this:

'No te dejan por alguien Mejor -
Te dejan por un camino mas facil.
Pero asi - lo pierdan Todo.
Aguante y Mira adelante.'

..and in Plain English (for the non Bi-Lingual herein...

'They don't leave you for someone better—
They leave you for an easier path.
But in doing so, they lose everything.
Hang in there, and look forward.'

Mas o menos? (more or less Great perspective. Hopefully 'Dani', here, can find some healing from this.

Michelle Miller wrote:Hello, I'm looking for someone who wants to enjoy life here ...in the Andes mountains of Ecuador. I left the US in 2005 and never looked back. ... looking for a big animal lover who will enjoy my equines and dogs.

Hola Michelle

Fascinating - I also left the US in 2005 - Moved to El Salvador - Loved it there.. (Sure, there were 'pockets of crime' - like Everywhere - but it was easy to not be 'targeted' - just don't walk around 'looking like low hanging fruit / a target', and you're good. Mostly, just Industrious, Ingenious Family-oriented People, focused on Living, and 'blooming where they were planted'. And I found very much the same down in Ecuador. (been there Twice - Love it there, also.. No doubt you will recognize these wonderful spots...

..and 'El Mirador de Turi' overlooking Cuenca, with the Andes in the background, there..

Amazing Vistas, down there.. Few more snaps, for the benefit of Others (but I'll just 'link', so-as to Not choke up Your thread with My Pix.. Valle / Cañon / Lago etc..

I think the thing that strikes Any 'visitor' the Most, is just how Green and Lush everything is - Everywhere, even in just the 'off-areas', outside the Cities, ie: Cumbayá (I think..) Anyway - Point made, yes?

But I can only Imagine just how Amazing your 'Finca' must be. Posting this here - Not as an 'Application', per-se.. But.. As I crest my years closing in on 60, I find myself - once again - at a 'crossroads', so.. I Am saying 'Hmmmm...' And - Absolutely Love both Dogs (here's My Two Clowns..) and Horses..

We had an Arabian when I was a teen - but I hadn't the bux to buy a 'Proper camera' back then, so.. I Drew 'im in Pencil - This was Rajii - Absolutely Love having 'silent conversations' with them via their Eyes - it is an Unmatched experience.

Anyhoo, this is all 'For what it's worth. I am slowly - but Steadily - still recuperating from a rather Painful 'Relationship Flat-Tire' - with a woman who - Claimed - she was All For building a Homestead together, but.. When it was Time to 'strike the match' / Make it all Happen, well.. She bailed.. Turns out, she wasn't 'over the Ex' or something, but.. Ehh, is what it is..

Like I posted elsewhere - when "Life" knocks you down / burns you Up - Just like in Nature / Permaculture - ya just gotta Get Back Up, and Keep Growing Forward.

If any of this 'resonates with ya'- PM is fine, then we could email / chat from there. Y Si - Hablo Español Muy Muy Bien. Cheers, Michelle...

Hello dani - Nice to 'eMeet you'  Sorry you had to go thru this - Sounds 'all too familiar', unfortunately... Had something 'similar-ish' happen earlier this year...

After 'investing' Very Heavily into a 2 year + long Total-Commitment / Courtship - She said "Yes!!" to the 'Atomic Bomb' and all.. / Solid 'Hunting Season Tools' Gifted, etc, etc - which was to culminate in getting a Nice Old House on some Very-Choice Land up in Northern Cal, and - Finally- starting the Homestead / Permie-Life, well.. Two days from 'closing', she informs me 'I just can't Do this'.. Turns out, she - apparently - wasn't 'over the Ex' yet.

Anyhoo, point being: Don't give up Hope. I posted this earlier, and think it fits here:

 and, Another good one:

Yep, good advice.

If it helps, I Still have a small chunk of Land up in NorCal (Not the place 'We' were considering - that 'We' is over and done / the place Sold to someone else.. so, if you're interested in Discussing, shoot me a 'PM' and we can chat more about a 'place to park your little home' (sounds you have like an RV / Trailer or.. 'TinyHouse on wheels', maybe? You can explain if you wish.

In any case - Best to you - Hang in there.
