Hey all, I just purchased a second hand kitchen sized bokashi composter but only realized it was an anerobic bokashi system when I went to make the purchase. The seller didn't explain clearly and I didn't ask enough questions. Anyways, the price was right so I went for it anyways. Problem is, I live in an apartment and the whole process on bokashi anaerobic fermentation doesn't sound ideal for me, I've got nowhere to bury the fermented product to get the final composted product. I'd rather have worm castings that I can use for potted plants. By the looks of this thing, I feel it could be easily converted to a worm composter. It's already got the built in drainage, and I think with a few air holes drilled in, it would work like a charm. Only issue I can see is separating out the castings from the bottom of the container when they're done. But I kind of figure I can just scoop out the top layer where the worms and unfinished scraps are when the bucket is nearly full, remove the finished casting and then dump the worms and unfinished scraps back in. Does anyone see any problems here? Any tips/advise on making this functional would be great. Or, if this sounds like a terrible plan, also ok with that response too! TIA!
