I thought that you all might be interested in taking a look at my Capstone
project, which is sort of a Master's thesis for landscape architects. The idea was to design a park on an abandoned mine site that maximized the
land's ability to sequester
carbon. I had to focus on one area of carbon sequestration (I only had a year to complete this), so I chose leaf litter decomposition. Strangely
enough, there is not a whole lot of research on the topic considering how important sequestering carbon is to our survival as a species. Thankfully there are a few people doing the research, most notably Bjorn Berg and Charles McClaugherty, also Moore, et al in their study
Litter decomposition rates in Canadian forests. The project did come out showing an increase in sequestration through careful planting design and enhancing wetlands. Thanks for taking a look!!
