To all the Americans and Australians involved in the Apollo 11 moon landing, a big congratulations on their 50th anniversary!
Personally, I recall sitting in front of our old black & white TV, with the fireplace heating our cold winters day lounge room, watching it live while my Mum was in the kitchen - I yelled out to her to come in quickly to see it.
It amazed me then, and it continues to do so - every one of those Astronauts were heroes.
It gave us a reminder that, as a species, we have the propensity to do good and great things if we work together.
Sadly, JFK didn't live to see his commitment. If only the politicians of today had the thoughtfulness and drive to do good, rather being focused on nonsensical, party driven SMS messages and rhetoric.
I live in hope of better things - that's what memories of Apollo mean to me. Similarly,
