Please Help Need Seeds UK

Hello peeps, I really need a variety of seeds for Permaculture in the UK, if you know anywhere in the uk or that will send seeds to the UK, please let me know, I would really like it if they were reasonably priced, cheers.

Hi Peter,
I have had seeds from; Real seeds, Tamar Organics both of which are easy to find if you google uk them.
You can get seeds within the EU easily but not from the states due to strict regulations.
We are in Finland and have found both the companies have agood variety and they post to us no problem.

So enjoy ordering...... and growing!

The Real Seed Company are great and have great ethics (all open-pollinated) though the range is small.

Chiltern Seeds have an enormous range including lots of heritage open-pollinated varieties (F1 Hybrids are clearly marked) and give, in my opinion, lots of seeds for the money and are not too expensive.

I have ordered from both of the above companies, both UK based, and they've been fantastic.

My friend always uses Chase Organics and I have their catalogue being sent but I haven't ordered from them yet. May not ever really need to if my seed-saving goes according to plan this year. Actually, if it goes well I may have seeds to swap for next year.

one question whats the deal with hybrids etc what difference does it make?

The difference between the 2 types of seeds are that the open pollinated varietys will breed true from seed. You can save the seeds frome this years crop and plant them next year and get the same tomato, or what ever you have planted from seed last year. If you get the F1 hybred seeds they will not breed true. You can still plant the seeds from the F1, but you will have no clue what will grow.

Gosh Jean, thanks for that. I looked at the plant/tree list and was awestruck but it just didn't occur to me that there was also a seed one. Off to spend the day looking

And publications and courses, too. The plant list is exceptional but only a limited supply so sells out almost as soon as the list is released.
