Hello,
Not really sure if I am sending the to the right email or not, but I am quite interested (understatement) in your permaculture opportunity. I currently live in Huntington Beach CA, and have slowly watched my little surfing town be taken over by corporate greed and tourists (or tourerists as I call them). I really am looking for the opportunity to get away and live where there is actually trees that grow naturally, and not ones that a person has decided to place in the ground, but I do have some questions. I would really like to make an effort for the 2 years and make a living working for you guys and helping permaculture thrive. Ideally I would like to do some smithing/forging if possible, mabey a water wheel to make electricity if I could get my hands on some alternator cores and car batteries(always thought hydroelectricity was an awesome idea). I have several items I would like to bring with me and simply donate to the work site. I used to work in construction so I have things like air compressors, nail guns, shovels, sledge hammer, hammers, tool/knife sharpener, hand saws, etc.  and some various other items that may be useful like canning and cooking supplies. I realize its a lot of heavy stuff that isn't really cost prohibited to ship so I would probably have to drive it up myself. Also I own a .308 rugger rifle (I only have the rifle no other guns except for a bb gun, I don't believe in guns as a means of self protection), I was wondering if hunting was a possibility if the correct tags were purchased? All of the meat and skins would be shared among the camp of course, as well as an avid opportunity to make skins and several other items from the carcass. Maybe if you had a list of items that you need, I would be able to help, the items that aren't useful to me I could sell to get more cash to get up there. In all essence when I make a go at this I want be as useful as possible, I just really hate the way my life is now and desperately need a 180. Most of my time is dedicated to making money to fund my camping trips anyway so I figured this is the logical next step. But I am a realist at heart so I want to clear everything and make sure its ok with you guys, the last thing that you need is an outside element to come and ruin your great way of living. My goal is to leave around March, the 100 dollars should more than affordable for me but I don't have a paypal. So maybe I could mail the money to you beforehand if possible or just bring it up with me? I apologize for all the questions but i'm literally on the edge of my seat writing this because I would rather be out there than where I am. I would love any information if possible, sorry if the email is all over the place I just keep having random questions (I am sure ill have more) and would really like to make this dream a reality. Thank for all your time and help and hope you have a wonderful day. Its cool if you pass this message around just please omit my phone number.

Regards,

Hi Shay,

My guess is that what you are really interested in is the boot camp - do I have that right?

If so, I think what I want to do is to move your post into the bootcamp thread and then I'll get to work on giving you some answers.

Yes the boot camp has definitely caught my interest, that would be great! the more answers I can get the better. I want to be as informed as possible so I can make a good decision in moving forward. Thanks for your help.

I posted a reply here https://permies.com/p/1034830

So let's continue discussion there and I am now locking this thread.

Today's lesson is that you can't wear a jetpack AND a cape. I should have read this tiny ad:
