Interesting question! I was turned on to stirfrying lettuce by a family friend & I am sure it would taste great with Miner's lettuce. Miner's lettuce can be a bit astringent at times and stir-frying should mellow it out. People in the US like crunchy foods so that is why I am guessing this practice is not super common.
We like stirfried lettuce. It's one of our "absolutely broke" meals. Great with some sliced almonds btw.
I just don't think of claytonia the same way. I guess this is because i was introduced to it at camp in the Sierras. Picking an odd leaf here or there in the woods didn't get me to think of it as a "real" food, which is of course silly, but I'm human. Humans are silly!
Finished 2 life quests (well... almost). Wondering what to do next? Zone 5b
Could it be whizzed into a pesto, say with olive oil and other flavourings? Maybe wilted and stirred up with scrambled eggs? Mixed with mashed beans and fried as patties? I've never cooking miners lettuce either, just thinking of solutions for other gluts of green stuff...
Here. Have a potato. I grew it in my armpit. And from my other armpit, this tiny ad:
