Hey guys. Spent a little time yesterday inoculating beech tree “totems” with Lions Mane sawdust. This is my first foray into this type of fungus. I’ve been growing shiitake for a few years but some news from Paul Stamets made me want to try these. It seems that Lions Mane have been able to slow the disease process to of Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed with MS last year and it’s been quite a journey. With this message I wanted to pass along how I did it and maybe get some pointers from others that have succeeded in growing these before.

Nice! I've never grown lions mane but it's on my to do list. Have you thought about covering the cut ends with wax or something to prevent the entrance of competitor fungi? Keep us updated with the results. Good luck?

Hi Dean,
Some I covered in wet leaf bags with a rock weight. The rest I put in old animal kennels to keep rodents and squirrels out. On top of the kennels I put wet burlap topped with old greenhouse plastic. The wax is not something I had considered so thanks for the tip!

It sure was nice of your sister to lend us her car. Let's show our appreciation by sharing this tiny ad:
