Treesong is looking for mature persons passionate about Permaculture and serious about learning sustainable living skills for Apr-Oct 2012. We can accommodate 2 interns in Spring & Fall and up to 6 for summer.
Treesong is a new Permaculture-designed homestead located in SW Oregon, off the Redwood Hwy. The 6-acre site is nestled into the SE face of Lone Mountain. It’s a mixed hardwood & conifer forest with an elevation of 1720-1920 ft. USDA zone is 8b, and the climate is Maritime/Mediterranean. We have a wet and mild fall through spring (60-90 in. rain), followed by a hot dry summer.
I learned natural building and ecological design from Ianto Evans at Cob Cottage. Our home is a passive solar designed eclectic building of cob, earth bags, bale-cob, cob-wood, and clay-slip straw. We have a rocket stove, earthen floors, and a living roof. Our goal is a self-contained integrated sustainable farm using Permaculture principles strongly influenced by Ianto Evans; zone 0, and Sepp Holzer; zone II-IV,. We practice brown Permacuture, so be prepared to get dirty. We
compost humane manure, and recycle urine and gray water. Also, we give animals a happy, healthy life in exchange for their milk & meat.
Projects include but not limited to:
Earth plasters & floors
Hugelkulture beds, swales & terraces for the Food Forest
Fencing & natural building of animal housing
Attached green house from recycled glass
Wood fired hot tub
Cob oven
Log mushroom culture
