Rabbit tractors full time?

So I am just getting my rabbit operation up and running and I got my cages from a commercial rabbitry that went out of business. Anyway, they are 8 feet long and are 2 feet deep and 2 feet high. I have them suspended now, but I'm thinking of slapping a piece of roofing on top and putting skies on the bottom so that I can drag them to a new place in the yard every day for fresh grass. Does this seem wise as full time living? Seems much more humane to me. The pic is how they are now.

The wire spacing on the bottom looks too small to get much grass through it.  I have a rabbit tractor with 1" mesh and the rabbits have some access to grass.  My second rabbit tractor has 2" mesh on the bottom.  This allows access to the grass.

I run weaned rabbits in the tractors so 2" is tight enough to keep them in.  I would be concerned about kits getting out if I were to keep breeding does on 2" mesh.

If you put spacers on the bottom of your cages, you could have a tractor just above the ground so waste would fall out and would be spread evenly over your land.  Kind of a rabbit manure spreader 😊

Well the skies put them up off the grass about a half inch so I figured the grass would pop through and the waste would fall out

if your grass is short, then it should pop through a bit, although it does seem like a really small grid. I don't think I'd expect them to get much calories from it.
The roofing you'll need if they're hanging, too, and I'd consider some sort of box inside each run too so they aren't totally exposed. Honestly in both setups I'd be concerned about their security against predators.
Also, not sure what your climate is like but if it gets rainy they'll want to be out of the weather.

Tereza- yeah I have roofing fir them now for sure. A box is a good idea too.i put fans on them when it's hot along with giving them frozen water bottles.

I think being up a bit off the ground is good, I'm always a bit concerned about coccidiosis or other ground-based parasites but even so I let my bunnies get some ground time (with their buddy my guard dog around, always, since we have major feral cat issues....).

I live in the downtown area of a fairly large city so all the wild and ferel animals are afraid to show up here, scared they'll get shot in a drive by...
