we bought a small homestead between grand rapids and Kalamazoo. Originally from Maryland don't know many people and wanted to try here to see if anyone is actively looking to engage in the homesteading lifestyle.

Welcome to the area, Jason. My wife, Melisa, and I are in Fennville and almost exactly equidistant between Kzoo and GR. While Melisa is a Michigan native, we moved here from NJ in 2017. I highly recommend the vankal permaculture group on Facebook for finding local people in the permaculture community. Peter Bane and Keith Johnson are in Muskegon (name dropping ;) )
We are on twenty acres of woodlands backing into the Bravo wildlife refuge. Just poured the foundation for our round wood timber frame with strawbale infill house.
