FARMER/FARM MANAGER/WORK EXCHANGERS wanted to help develop a small permaculture based farm located within Source Farm Ecovillage, St. Thomas Parish, Jamaica, W.I.

We are looking for persons with skills/experience in small eco-farming/market gardening, organic vegetable and fruit production, farm management, working with/supervising others, and product/market development.

Applicants will need to have the initiative and passion to move projects forward, the ability to live and contribute within a larger community context, a calling toward tropical agriculture, hopefully a working knowledge of permaculture and agroecology, and a passion for restoring abundance to people and planet.

The Source Farm is in rural eastern Jamaica, with a varied 12-month growing season, and is a center for demonstration, education, and activism for a regenerative Jamaica.

Room, board, and a small stipend are offered to begin with. Profit sharing is possible with successful harvests. Short or long term applicants are welcome.

Dwight I'm in canada right now and at least till the end of my contract in october, but i'm working on finishing up a land purchase up in bogue manchester near balaclava to start my fulltime tropical permaculture farm.
I hope you find your farmers in the shorterm and let me know if theres anything I can do to help spread your call, It would be nice if you could keep permies up to date on your research and findings as it would help me prepare allot. I check with your site often but it doesn't go into details a permaculture educated person might want to know like rare plants, their latin names and uses, availabilities, livestock, soil conditions and everything someone who wants to farm tropicaly but hasn't spent allot of time in tropical land might want to know. I'm up near cockpit country and I'm worried about the viability of dams and swales in such stony karst topography. It's hard to get info from people I know as there not of the permaculture mindset.

Anyways glad to see you going strong and moving towards expansion.

Hi my name is Alexandra Budz,

I am a recent graduate of Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. I have always loved gardening , and my family tries to use organic produce, meats, etc. and I have become very interest, in doing more. I don't not really have a great deal of experience with permacullture farming, but have done a great deal of research and I would love to learn more.

If you have any opportunities please let me know,

Thank you in advance for your time
