Is it normal for a Hermes baby to not have a carriage return bar ?

I recently received an old Hermes Baby. I'm not sure what year it from but i noticed that it does not have the return carriage bar on the left side like typewriters normally have to push the carriage back to the beginning after the bell rings. i'm curious did the factory make them this way ?
