We are building a swale (with a machine). If we make the bottom of the swale wide so that we can drive on it every now and then (not every day) would that be an issue? Want to safe space!

Should be safe for the vehicle, but if it is a heavy vehicle you may end up with enough compaction to keep moisture from making it into the ground which may be counterproductive to your goal.

I thought that it is mainly the swale itself which should be penetrable to moisture?
