Growing plants under a Custard Apple Tree?

Hi all,

Attached is a picture of my custard apple tree. I have the idea of planting ginger in the spot on the left of the picture where you can see a black plant pot.

This is basically on the dripline of the tree. Is this a suitable place to plant?

that is a really nice-looking custard apple tree!! I see very spindly ones here, never so lush.
I haven't heard anything about them being problematic to plant under. I do grow ginger and I find that my dirt is not fluffy enough to make for easy harvesting, so I put it in large containers (except for the escapees, which I half-heartedly try to catch every year. They do well under and in everything, pretty much, as long as they have enough water when they're getting established).
