I know this will be a regional thing, but I found the linked article fascinating: daily jstor
I was aware of bog bodies where well preserved corpses have been found and studied, but was not aware that people have used peat bogs as food preserving places for thousands of years.
I feel the need for some experimentation.  With access to a blanket bog what would you try?
