My future business partner and I are looking to purchase an alaskan mill for his new stihl 880. I am wanting to get close to 50in if possible. Additional question is recommendations for bars as well.

I have a granberg 36 inch. Is is super sturdy, has worked great for years. They make them in larger sizes too, and I assume those are good quality. My saw only takes a 24 inch bar, so I am limited to about 17 inch wide planks, as the mill clamps to the bar and you have to pull back from the tip. So if you get the 48 inch mill, you will need bar longer than 55 inches to use the full width.
