Of course I had heard of self publishing before, but it wasn't until last month when I took a zoom workshop from the library that one of our local authors explained about Amazon's Kindle Direct program (Amazon Free Self Publishing).  The royalties vary depending on how much work you do yourself, and how much you let Amazon do for you.  But there are a tremendous number of potential customers, even if your eBook of your children's pictures only gets sold to your parents and in-laws.  Could be an excellent chance to get your story out there...
