I bought my first good camera 5 days ago. Today was the first time I've ever tried anything remotely artistic with a camera and it's the first time I've used the editing thing on my laptop for anything other than contrast and cropping. I learned those two on Saturday.

I've been at it again. With 5 days as an artist under my belt, I'm an old pro now.

The crow in the last shot was very out of focus and small on the edge of a shot that almost missed him entirely. I cropped him in close which only made the focus thing worse. By cranking up the contrast and then the colour level it made something that almost looks like a painting.

I just stumbled upon this. Am I the only one who sees it as high art? It took a couple hours to get good at this.

It's good stuff. Play with other filters - both gimp and photoshop have lots and several free plugins are downloadable.
