Hello!

I live in the Pacific Northwest, in a city, in a wood-framed house. The previous owners left a couple piles of big logs, which are cut into lengths of about a foot and a half. "Fantastic!" I thought. "I'll use them to grow with." Now I find that they're full of termites, and I am feeling like an idiot.

How concerned should I be? Should I get these logs out of here post-haste? Can I still use them for hugelkultur? I've never dealt with termites before, and I haven't done much research because, honestly, I'm afraid of what I might learn -- and, also, half the online search results are people trying to sell extermination services. Oof.

Had originally planned to base this design on a foundation of hugelkultur, because wood is something we have a lot of around here, but now wondering if I should reconsider.

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated!

Arch enemy? I mean, I don't like you, but I don't think you qualify as "arch enemy". Here, try this tiny ad:
