There is a young Persian (AKA Carpathian) Walnut tree growing in the back. It's about six years old.
Instead of growing up straight, the main trunk is growing in a curve (see attached photo.)
I had thought, if anything, it would grow toward the Sun--but straight. However, this tree is growing like it wants to make a quarter of a circle.

Is this normal?
Will it straighten up later?
Or should I put a post up beside it, with a strap, and tie it to train it to grow vertical?

Just based on what appears to be a bridge in the photo, but not knowing where you are, it looks like the tree is leaning toward the clearing/sun. That is common for most plants. I have seen 80yr old, healthy walnuts with very complex branching trunk networks  that could have started with a similar shape. It may shorten the ultimate lifespan of a tree, but walnuts seem to root deeply. In my opinions staking will never make a tree longer lived, as it won’t get as strong.
