We have all had close calls of one kind or another. The one that keeps replaying in my head took place maybe 15 years ago. I was with a group in Ohio. We went to a restaurant in a 4 door vehicle. I was in the front passenger seat. I got out and closed the door. Now, I have no idea what fraction of a second it takes for a car door to close, but that fraction has replayed in my head for hours.
As my hand left the front door as it was closing, I noticed the rear passenger had wrapped her hand around the B pillar to pull herself out of the vehicle. Her hand released from the B pillar just before the door made contact. I have no doubt that the way her hand was wrapped around the pillar that her hand and wrist would have been crushed.
As things turned out, she was unaware of the danger she had been in.
