Hi, we are a large family in SW WI. We are in the process of building a tree house, which is larger than some homes I have seen thru this forum. We watched the video, 'Measure Twice, Cut Once', which got us motivated, and was a real blessing! The tree house is 12' x 10', up on a triangle of 3 2'x10' beams, which are bolted to 3 trees. It's sloped, one side is 6' up, the other is about 14' from the ground.
I have been looking thru posts to try to find out building codes. We live in a house built before WI was a state, so possibly 175 years old. Made of stone, there was an addition made in about 1963ish. There is alot of great history on our farm.
We are not going to be building a new home anytime soon, but I am fascinated with the tiny house movement. But for a family of 9, a tiny house is out of the question. We would love to get out of debt, but dont know what the future holds for us. It is a constant prayer going up, and there is hope!
Is there anyone who can de-code the building code jargan? I have no idea what we can and cannot do on "our" property, (quotes because we have a mortgage).

Great to be here! Also looking at setting up a Little Free Library near us, and also a store on the farm. The store we are going to start hopefully when the tree house is done.
