I'm still new here and am looking for ways to improve the batch box idea to incorporate other ideas to raise the burn box temps and improve the internal burn even more than what they seem capable of.  Looking to raise box temps high enough to give complete secondary burn as gasses leave the batch box to the riser this could make for an even better burn to make one of the safest wood burning devices made and give inspectors something to fight to incorporate in all wood devices.  Evolution is always growing better or failing and trying again.

I took a close look at the glowstove fire box, low burn in the  box is provided by natural draft to the floor of the burn box, high burn is same air inputs to forced air with a micro fan hotter, shorter burn time, my observation of video's online.   Tight  sealed door on batch box and feed the box the same way will increase the internal temp for improved more complete burn in the batch box before exit to the riser.  Glow box secondary air comes from high holes on the top of the door in the glowstove instead of secondary tube directed to the exit of the batch burn chamber into the riser.

Welcome, Joe. You mention that you have some experience with efficient wood heaters; have you looked through batchrocket.eu? Peter van den Berg has experimented extensively and measured results with professional-grade testing equipment. There is only a few percent more to squeeze out of the design, and you can't know if you have improved it without thousands of dollars' worth of sensitive equipment.

Yes I read a lot of the .eu site you listed , I like the casting options there then I saw the recent videos of the Glowstove 2, this is different than the batch box that works with wood stove draft control down low on the door, the Glowstove 2 uses low side draft with fan foced draft to increase internal temps and natural draft no fan boost to give a longer burn time. secondary air is thru the thick door just in front of the firebox exaust in the fire box roof.  Here oservation and a better infrared temp meter show a marked improvement in the box.

When you are trying to tweak "better" to get to "best", the differences can be subtle enough that observation is not a reliable enough indicator, and you need precise instruments to tell how you are really doing. Peter has a story from 2008 when he was testing Kuznetsov stove design to optimize it that demonstrates this.
