Best Lighter!

I can't believe it took us 2-1/2 years of living outside before finally finding a decent lighter for our gas stove.   Now we are in love.

This is a little arc-lighter. It is USB rechargeable and makes an arc that easily lights our gas flame and is designed to work lighting candle wicks, punks, etc.

No more fuel! No more failing clickers! No more blown-out flames! No more click-click-click-click-click-click-POOF!

I am not sure how well it would hold up being left out in the rain or freezing temps so I'm keeping it in the camper, but OMG it is a life-changer.  

I am not saying this brand is best -- there were a number of brands on Amazon -- but this style of lighter, using an electric arc, is a dream to use. It has a USB-C port and cable (no block -- regular USB on the other end). You slide up the safety to push out the business end and expose the activating button. You press the button to light the arc.

Search "arc lighter" "plasma lighter" "electronic lighter" "rechargeable lighter"...

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post a review, but after 5 minutes of searching forums it seems close...

Hmm! This seems to have enough "oomph" to actually be useful.

USB charging is nice, since this can be done from off-grid battery systems.

I'm curious as to the longevity of these items. Given the battery and electronic components, I'm not sure repair is possible.

I also wonder about their use for wood stoves and such, and moreso for outdoor fires where the tinder materials are often not ideal or perfectly dry. Anybody tried this?

The old butane bbq lighters just became too maddening & child-proof over the years, and have been banned from the household.

We have propane heaters, propane stove, & such w/ electric igniters, and occasionally the igniter mechanism gives grief ... out comes the long matches or something with reach. The matches and gooseneck butane have worked really well ... butane versions are those "jet" versions, where the jet extends out a 1/2" or more. Also keep a few pocket versions of the butane lighters, w/ three jets, where the butane level is really visible.

Ordered one of these (arc w/ gooseneck) to test, and to add to my fall-back list, which is now: arc, butane, long-wooden matches.
