Is there a way to search for a word in the subject thread and only have each thread show up once?

For example, I searched for "apple" in growies by subject only and got 68 hits - but really only like 5 individual threads. I was mainly interested in finding out if there was a dedicated thread for apple trees. It seems like there isn't one. Strange, no?

WOW. I see what you mean.

To complicate things, I didn't see a thread that I started. ( https://permies.com/forums/posts/list/7503#67370 )
Investigation revealed that it would not come up for "apple" but it would come up under "apples". Ho hum.

This is an idea that has been in the hopper at coderanch for two years. I let the developers there know about your desire.
