Hello,

I am a fortyish SWF looking to meet new friends (men or women) and maybe romance eventually (men). I currently live in western New York. COVID restrictions have really done a number on my social life (I used to love social dancing--swing dancing, contra dancing, etc.). I was never really a fan of online socializing, but I signed up for a friend-matchmaking system called “quarantine buddy,” and met someone who turned out to be a very dear friend, so I see the possibilities now. Any romantic endeavors would have to start as friends first.

I would love to meet more permaculture-minded people. I currently live in a townhouse (which was great while I was in graduate school and going through a divorce), but I’m bursting at the seams with worm bins in the garage, two rabbits and a turtle in the house, microgreens on the washer/dryer, potted plants in every corner of the patio…you get the idea. I got my M.Ed. degree and I’m teaching online, and I finally have the income to afford a decent place with some “growing room,” but I’m not sure where to go.

Politically, NY is way too blue for me now. I have always been politically independent. I got a teaching cert to teach in NH, but the real estate market is tough there. Not impossible, but tough. I’d love to meet other NY or NH permies (or anyone in between or also not sure where they fit anymore.) I basically just love interesting people, and I would be open to whatever communication style suits you (email, texting, google meets, etc.), and of course, meeting in person if possible.

As I said, I’m a teacher by trade (currently teaching online to maintain bodily autonomy--not a fan of masks and experimental injections), and I have other side gigs as well. I’m a devoted single, homeschooling mom to two great boys. I love kids, but I don’t want to have more of my own. I love to camp and hike, garden, cook (omnivorous), make kombucha, bake (GF), grow microgreens (I’d love to get into growing mushrooms--that might be next on the list). I am a Christian and I attend church, but I’ll never be “hardcore” because I ask too many questions. I’ve had many personal spiritual experiences that make me believe that the spiritual realm is much more beautiful and complex than what is written in the bible. I do love to delve into the mysteries of life, including spiritual topics, hidden history, and maybe a little cryptozoology once in a while. I'm well-educated, but I've learned just as much in barns and gardens as I have in classrooms.

I am one of those darn INFJs that are so popular on this forum (but not in life). I like socializing quite well for an introvert, but I need to have honesty and purpose to make it worthwhile to me. Meaningless b.s., corny jokes, and small talk are not my forte.  Also, primary love languages are Touch and Acts of Service. Any other tests that I should take?

If you would like to connect, tell me more about yourself, and send me a purple moosage with your email and we can start from there.

Hi Scott. Yeah, everyone I know from NY who's been to TN loves it! I'm definitely thinking about it. How long have you been there?
