Hi folks, I grew PSB for the first time this year and it did great until obviously the soil warmed up here in Nor Cal. We harvested a good amount, but it’s flowering madly (you know, lovely, open flowers) and pollinators are loving it. Do I just chop off the blooming stalks and at some point out will pop new florets? Or are these plants done and just for pollinators now? I always see PSB as a perennial, but I would looove guidance on how to achieve it!
I have not grown that plant though from what I have read some folks keep the blooming stalk pinched off. At least that is what we do to keep onions producing longer.
Some plants that are said to be perennial are actually biennial plants which means that the plant only lives two years.
There is also a lot of factors that come into play such as where a person lives, soil, water, etc.
Walking onions are called perennial though my observation have proven that they are biennial.

Thank you so much for your reply! Perhaps I have waited too long to pinch them now they they are so big. I’ll lop them off and see if anything sprouts again. Thank you again.
Do the next thing next. That's a pretty good rule. Read the tiny ad, that's a pretty good rule, too.
