Hello, I have a situation that some of you wiser heads may be able to help with regarding heating cold frames with heated water buckets. Now, apologies in advance if this has been gone over in these forums and I'm repeating old questions. As I understand it, a heated water container can also radiate heated in cold frames in freezing weather.

I was wondering if there was a formula for how much water would be needed to heat particular cubic footage in the cold frame? For example, my cold frames run roughly 2.5' x 24' x 4' tall or roughly 240 cubic feet. They are made from cinder blocks, bent PVC pipe and greenhouse plastic. I wanted to know if there is a particular rule of thumb or formula for how big of a heated container per cubic footage because I would like to run one of these containers off of a solar panel. So as you can see, a heated 5 gallon container at 120 watts would run off a 120 watt solar panel right? A bit of an investment.

Thank you for your wisdom and guidance. If I have erred in my assessment, let me know! This is all new to me and your help is much appreciated!
