On the subject of Sugar Baby Watermelons, I've noticed from different seed companies that most are shown as having a dark green rind almost like a smaller Black Diamond watermelon, while other seed companies show pics of small typical light & dark green striped melons. From what I understand, these are a non-hybrid melon, so I don't think the differing rind colors are due to the traits of a hybrid parental mix. I know there is a bush type & a vine type, but I've not grown these different versions yet to see how they do. I think the bush type just have shorter vines, and claim to be able to be grown in containers, but I have read conflicting reviews about that. The ones I'm currently growing are a non-hybrid vining type with dark green/black rind. For anyone that's grown these different versions of Sugar Baby, what do you think is going on here? Could it be the wrong photo was used? I've seen seed packets in stores show a picture of yellow sweet corn on the package, but the package is for a white heirloom variety (Stowell's Evergreen), so it could be an error in what image is used.
If you've grown any version of Sugar Baby watermelons, what was your outcome?
