I had a tank/pond on my 10 acres in central Texas and it would not hold water. I recently had a new fenceline cleared of trees and brush. I had the catepillar operator push the wood into the old tank/pond and then fill it over with the tank/pond dam. I plan on making this my fruit orchard. Anybody have any ideas if this is a good idea or bad one? Anne, would this be a good idea or do I need to plant something else here and move the fruit trees below the filled in pond?

One concern I would have about having an orchard above is that as the wood below breaks down, the top will sink in somewhat, and you might end up with trees
pointing sideways or flopping over.

Maybe plant trees around the edges of the old pond, and put annual crops in the middle.
