At the recent Permaculture Conference at UM, several speakers talked about Food Forests --
-- using permaculture to mimic natural ecosystems for food production while protecting wildlands.
Two food forest farmers will describe their experience on the UM campus. The public is invited.
Helen Atthowe has been an organic/biodynamic farmer in the Bitterroot Valley for many years and is now trying her hand at Forest Food Farming. Carl Rosato started WoodLeaf Farm (a food forest) in the Sierra foothills of northern California in 1988.
