There are all sorts of things that we, in North America won't hear about because it just doesn't make the news. Not because it isn't newsworthy, but because it is in our politician's or industry's best interests for us to not know.

Case in point. On Dec 7, 2012, Russia imposed a ban on all meat being imported that contains a chemical called ractopamine. Ractopamine is banned in 160 countries but is still used in 24, where it's used to alter an animals metabolism so that it produced muscle instead of fat.

The U.S.A and Canada are 2 of the 24. This means that all meat from North America has been banned in the Russian Federation:

One more reason why I am starting small scale meat production with poultry and rabbits for my family despite working on actually decreasing our meat consumption .
