I am writing this post because a co-worker of mine lost her home over the weekend to a house fire.  The house is a total loss.  The family was able to get outside but they did lose one of their dogs to the fire.

I will come quickly to the point.  There is a gofundme page set up for them.

https://www.gofundme.com/f/kennedy-family-fire-recovery?utm_medium=email&utm_source=product&utm_campaign=p_email_m_pd-5332-donation-receipt-adyen&utm_content=internal

I have already made my donation.  I do not want anyone to feel obligated to have to make any monetary donation, but if you felt so generous, I am sure she would be thankful.  Any amount would be fine, even if it were only in single digits.  I have always thought that when tragedies like these strike that it is always better to have many people donate a little bit than a small number donate a large amount.

And if you don't feel like you can spare the money right now, I totally understand.  Just to be perfectly transparent, they do have insurance and no, they are not a part of the Permies community.  And fortunately they have hit their initial fundraising goal, but having gone through a much smaller fire myself, I know that I was thankful for any help I could get.  At this point, they are just people in need and I am sure that they would be thankful for any help they can get.

Eric

I owe an especial thanks to some on this site.

Within an hour of me posting the original post yesterday, I noticed several anonymous and obviously fictitious names make a series of relatively small donations.  I assume that these came in as a result of the previous post.

To everyone who donated, THANK YOU!!!

It means a lot to me that you would be willing to offer up a donation, even a small one, to someone who is a complete stranger.  I can tell you that the recipient is extremely grateful for the donations—I got an email last night saying so.

I know that family has a long, long road to recovery—I would bet a year optimistically—but every little bit really helps.

Thanks again, you guys are great!!!

Eric
