Toys for pigs!

I didn't find anyone talking about pig toys on this forum yet, so I'll share our experiences with keeping our pigs entertained.

A lot of forums recommend bowling balls, but they aren't so easy to find out in the country.

We accidentally discovered that a 5 gallon bucket makes a fantastic pig toy. And 5 gallon buckets are much easier to find.

For some reason, it keeps them entertained for hours. Here's the four of them fighting over an old laundry soap bucket.

We don't provide toys for our pigs because they have a whole mountain side to roam and enjoy. They're not interested in toys when they've got grazing to do. Toys are symptomatic of boredom and penned spaces. Get those pigs out on pasture and they'll abandon the toys because they'll be so happy to be out in nature.

I give mine empty milk jugs with a handful of food in them when I have them penned (like now to save the pasture, since it's winter). They love them.

If you've got penned pigs that need a toy, you can't beat a pumpkin.
If you need a toy, drill 3 holes in it and pretend it's a bowling ball. LOL
