I saw a new design of snow shovel that has two long parallel handles coming out from the blade with two "nibs" at the end and middle for grasping, and it reminded me of a scythe. I suddenly had a weird design pop into my head of a scythe that clears snow. I understand it may not be perfect, and that there are many different types of snow (some slushy and heavy), and it may not be good for rough terrain or tall grass, etc., but I think it could excell in some circumstances.
My first vision had a blade with a 180 degree curve that would scoop up a narrow swath of snow and redirect it the same direction of the snath travel. The second had a blade that basically just pushed the snow into a windrow at the end of travel. I think they could be good for clearing a large area, especially paved. A horizontal push could be less tiring than lifting and flinging with a shovel. The first design could fling it over a considerable distance instead of leaving piles in the way. If a person is fond of scything, and accustomed to it, it could be a good alternative, at least in addition to, a shovel.
